The Black Racer will best fit a person from 5'2" to 6'0". If the rider is 5'8" to 6'6", we recommend purchasing a bent seat post. For added comfort for taller riders, try an apehanger handlebar. The 15" Apes are surprisingly comfortable and very easy to maneuver.
- Frame Size 18.5"
- Wheelbase 43"
Our Black Racer frame is a near perfect reproduction of the early Schwinn cantilever tube boys' frame. Components are strong yet heavy; a characteristic we can afford with such a strong engine. Because the frame is available as an individual component, Spooky Tooth Cycles will occasionally do "frame-up" builds. These instances would be where we press in the headset and bottom bracket races, set the chainring and Ashtabula crank, cut the fork to length, etc. We always welcome custom bike build ideas, and this is one reason why.
The Violation, Army Violation, Qurve, & Violation Chopper will best fit riders from 5'0" to 6'2". If the rider is taller than 6'0", then a bent seat post may fit well.
- Frame Size = 17"
- Wheelbase = 48"
The GreenLine company gives us a stout, long frame with a single top tube and a more feet forward pedaling position. These frames make up our Violation, Army Violation, Violation Chopper, and Qurve. We receive our bikes out of the box complete. "Frame-up" builds are more difficult when we start with a GreenLine bike, but please feel free to ask for customized parts. This is what we do best.
The Industrial easily accomodates taller riders because of the extended wheel base and longer reach neck stem. The Industrial will best fit riders from 5'3" to 6'2". If taller than 6'2", please consider a bent seat post.
- Frame Size = 19"
- Wheelbase = 48"
The Bare Bones has a 43" Wheel Base with a 19" Frame Size.
The Tucson has a 47" Wheel Base with a 18" Frame Size.
The Stealth and Hot Shoe Racer have a 45" Wheel Base with a 18" Frame Size.
The Venus has a 50" Wheel Base with a 18" Frame Size.
The Stache has a 48" Wheel Base with a 18" Frame Size.
Frame size is measured from the center of the bottom bracket bearings up the seat tube to the top of the seat post clamp. Wheel base is measured from axle to axle.
Position:
On normal mountain & road bikes, there is a 3 point weight distribution: hands, feet, and seat. The instant that a gas or electric motor begins to propel a bicycle, weight immediately shifts back to the seat. Before we recommend any type of front suspension to a customer, we will try to recommend a comfortable saddle. This shift of weight can sometimes turn into a rider's advantage. Because all of your weight is now on the seat, an upright seated position has the benefit of a straighter back as well as a stance that is ready to accept whatever obstacles appear in the road. Sitting straight up sometimes provides more confidence, as if you are ready to take what the road is going to give.
If beach cruiser moon bars aren't your thing, try a Long-Horn handlebar. The hand positiong can be more comfortable on your wrists because of the less dramatic bend.
