I was riding home after picking up a half gallon of gas at night and a patrol car with 2 officers decided to flip around and pull up next to me at the light. I was on a all black 17" Giant Custom Rigid Mountain Bike with a full mode motor. Now this thing looks and sounds trick but not too loud until you give it alot of Gas. The ROOKIE riding shotgun ask me if I had a motorcyle lic. I turned to him and said I don't need a lic. because it is a motorized bike or reg or insurance per section CVC 406 A&B of the California DMV. I was not going over 30 mph and I had lights and a helmet. He then ask how big is the motor? I said it was under the 50cc limit and he asked how many cc's was mine? I told him 49cc. After he made me miss the light he said have a good night. After he relized he was dealing with someone that knows the law he gave up. The problem is because motorized bikes are different than what they ride or drive we are not like them or normal people and they should not waist tax payers time or money hassling us.
I think I should build the POLICE the trickest motorized mountain bike lights and all for them to try out as a low cost unit so they can learn how to save tax payers money!
