So I just ordered a bike from Spookytooth and as I wait anxiously for it to arrive I start wandering what I'm going to do in order to keep it in my possession once its dropped off. I don't believe I live in a high crime rate type of place but you never know what will happen and I do plan to travel. Any ways, bike locks are everywhere but most companies sell the same stuff with different names slapped on them so its a bit difficult to choose. I'm planning on using two locks, a chain and a wheel lock, if I can get others to assure me this is a good idea and the way to go. My big question revolves more around the wheel lock as I think I got a pretty good idea of what chain i am going to get. I found the AXA defender ring-lock or o-lock and it looks pretty good I just don't know if it will fit some of the wheels on these bikes. The bike I ordered has 26\" x 2.125\" wheels. Will a wheel lock work??? And please feel free if you guys have any other suggestions to put em out there im open to anything.

Thanks
Ride slow

If you are just lockin the wheel that wont do much. I can pick up my Qurve and run down the street with it. You need to lock it to something that does not move.

yeah I was planning on using a chain or cable as well I just wanted extra protection but the wheel locks seem to be small I might just buy a small U lock

I've been using the \"Street Cuff\". I have been very happy with it, it even come with a holester. But it is not cheap!! You can find it at JCwhitney.com

Interesting Lock thanx for showing I might go that route too... lol This lock might just bring back too many old memories of the pin for the bad guys trying to steal the bike ^_^

Sometimes, depending on where you stop, it is not as simple as locking your bike to a object that most thieves are unwilling to deal with. I always lock my bike to something that would be immovable when possible. Sometimes, your only option is to just lock your bike with your lock around the wheel and frame.I do know that the U locks by Kryptonite offer around a 3.5k insurance if you bike is stolen.

I noticed Spooky Tooth has a Kryptonite U lock for sale on their site, and I assume it does come with this warranty like most of their U locks do? I don't want to have to deal with my bike being stolen, but it is nice to know that your lock manufacturer will warranty theft. And I am assuming most of us have bikes that fall well under that price range.
