I have no idea how loud these two stroke engines might be. Just how noisey are they? I haven't been able to find one locally I can check out.

Well, let's see......when you are on the bike, and going 30 mph, you can hear the engine, though not very well. (stock, unmodified muffler)

When riding beside one (me riding my Yamaha Vino 50 scooter) The bike could be heard, but not unpleasantly loud.

When one is ridden on the road, you can hear it coming if you know what to listen for, but the average person inside a house would likely not notice your presence.

Quieter than a weed whacker fo' sho'.

WAAAAY less obnoxious than the average Hardley Ableson with \"straight pipes\".

One would probably be lost in the sounds of the average urban setting.

O.K., any one else care to chime in?

Thanks Bikeguy. How about the difference in decibal output between the 48cc and the 80cc ... is the any appreciable difference? Also, are all of Spooky Tooths bikes 48cc? I know they sell an 80cc kit.

but if you really wanna have fun you take out the baffle and leave it out its louder then that dirt bike you hear haulin down the street. but the aftermarker muffler is quieter then the stock the new one has a small opening and the stock has a big one thats what i would put on the aftermarket muffler if you want more acceleration
hell ya!!!

I can't comment on the 80cc kits. You'll have to get that from an authority....

The 48cc and 80cc aren't appreciably different in sound level in my experience. They use the same muffler.

2 strokes are buzzy and a Harley is loud and crazy---but he is working almost inside the law---his problem is noise--if the long arm of the law wants to make his life "SAD" they can:sick:

MY goal is to have a bike I can use for all my day to day stuff without "THE MAN" stopping me for noise.

In Cal.---the police can play it anyway they like---the code here is so mysterious. I have read all the codes and from what I can tell there is a very KIND AND FAVORABLE code and then a second set of codes---they can bang you on? WE WILL SEE.
