While trying to educate myself on 2 cycle engines, I came across the following on the Gru-Bee site:

It is important to know that oil mix 2 cycle engines as of Jan 1 2006 can no longer be imported into the USA and some European countries. Regardless of cc displacement, 4 cycle engines EPA approved are now all that is allowed to be imported into the USA.

Does this mean that Spooky Tooth will no longer be able to use 2 cycle engines in the future? Please enlighten.

Okay. I think I answered my own question. 2 stroke engines are like assault rifles ... they're grandfathered in.
So once all the existing 2 cycles are used up, the only alternative other than electric will be to go to the 4 stroke.
Here' my new question: Are there any 4 strokes that look good on a bike? Perhaps this has all been discussed here before, but 2 strokes look pretty cool. The 4 cycles I have seen all look awkward and ungainly large.
Is it the nature of the beast that 4 cycles will always be ugly?

P.S. This board doesn't seem to be very active.

Nope, this board isn't real active, but you won't ever be booted off for voicing an opinion either unlike some other boards.

To answer your question(s), yes, that means after they are all sold, two strokes will not be alowed to be imported...heh heh.
The four strokes are a little bigger because of the valve arrangements, but there is no reason a four stroke can't be a good looking engine on a bike....just not right now I guess.
