I would like to see Spooky Tooth sell the Grubee GT-1 and GT-2 made to motorize bicycles. My last (and also first) build didn't turn out very well, because of the chain tensioner, the way the sprocket had to be mounted on the rear wheel, and some issues with frame tube diameters. I was able to fabricate mounts for the engine that worked well, but the tensioner and rear sprocket were a continuous source of problems. 2 tensioners bent, one damaged the rear wheel. I finally cut the chain down to eliminate the tensioner, but the sprocket could not be made to stay straight on the wheel, which caused the chain to get too tight and then too loose as the wheel turned.

For my next build I am definitely going to use one of the Grubee "made to motorize" bikes, with the sprocket already attached to the HUB, adjustable dropouts, and the right frame tube diameters. Jerry.

Seem like nice bikes butt...

I'll miss these days wherre you had to build your own bike out of whatever was laying around.

Seems you could have been better served just buying the HD rear wheel like i did.

There is an engine that's being made with the front mounting provision larger than it was previously (to accomodate a larger dia. tube frame). I just got one for my latest build. It only required fabricating a rear mounting extension (for a Felt frame). It allows the motor to sit in a more frontal articulation (more visually appealling). It's a 2 stroke type - thought I'd share.

Also for the same build I removed the rear disc brake (Hot Wheels 68) and mounted the drive sprocket directly to the hub (where the disc was mounted), no more bent spokes. I used the holes left from removing the brake itself to mount an extended poo poo pipe. Sounds snappy.
